Baltimore Waiting on Triunfel, Morrow

Jason A. Churchill of Prospect Insider has once again dug up some juicy info on the Erik Bedard trade talks. It seems that the Mariners have offered an Adam Jones/Jeff Clement/George Sherrill package, but Baltimore is waiting for Seattle to cave and offer Jones, Sherrill and either Carlos Triunfel or Brandon Morrow. Also sounds like the Mariners would give up Morrow before Triunfel, a choice I could go either way on at this point.

One league source predicted the Mariners would announce their new acquisition on Thursday. [Er-Bed Br-Mor Ca-Tri]

Churchill is legit.

yea I could go either way also, but lean toward morrow in a trade for a starter because I fear he would end up in the bull pen again and not develope into the starter he can be. I noy triunifel is young, but I'm looking at the bright side.

I don't like this trade. Giving up Jones AND Morrow?? No. Either or, not both. I would rather see Morrow traded.

I'm neutral to giving up Trunfiel or Morrow...Either is worth giving up to get Bedard...Both Morrow and Trunfiel could end up being great but neither will help us be competitive next year like Bedard would...

I would rather give up Triunfel than Morrow because Triunfel is just too young to project into the major leagues. Could he be great, sure he could, but I think that he has a lot to prove between than and now. Morrow, on the other hand, has proven that he can be somewhat successful in the big leagues as a reliever. Giving up Morrow and Sherrill in a deal for Bedard would be bullpen suicide.

O's fan here.

I know that Sherrill is very good and the O's would be lucky to have him in their bullpen. However, I still find myself a bit suprised that his name is in the reports. He is a key part of the M's pen for an M's team that is obviously thinking about seriously conteding if they are going to trade for Bedard in the first place (although, I know many Mariner fans will debate how much trading Jones for Bedard will help them next year). So, I'm suprised that the M's and O's would be discussing him.

O's manager, Dave Trembley, has stated he wants a power lefty in the pen and Sherrill fits the bill, but honestly I can't see how Sherrill is such an important part of the trade for the O's at this time while they are rebuilding, UNLESS they feel they can flip him for something else to help in the rebuilding process.

carver, i have never understood this either. honestly, i never thought he was that valuable even with the killer season last year. he must be, though, as Baltimore and Pittsburgh have been trying to get him.
