The Seattle Mariners cut ties with Horacio Ramirez, the return for stud reliever Rafael Soriano last offseason. There isn't much to say about him that hasn't been said in the last 15 months, so I'll just keep it short.
Ramirez had the worst ERA in the entire MLB last year and spent two months on the DL. The bad certainly outweighed the good, but a quick thank you to HoRam for the starts you made on April 27th, May 13th and July 16th. As for the other 17 starts...
Take it easy, Horacio. I hear there are some great opportunities in the Independent Leagues.

bavasi must read these blogs and comments...yesterday i called for horam's release...and the next day it was so. I'm glad to see him go...like you said, maybe he'll be an average player in an independent league
Oh well, it was time to cut him loose. I think if he heads back to the National League he can be successful.
A very wise choice on our part to cut ties with him. All we needed was somebody on our team out of sympathy ,who would just take up a roster spot and then let us down .I wish him well and us even more
Thank You Mariners. Finally a good decision by Bill Bavasi. Too bad that the Mariners got seriously ripped off.
"Finally a good decision by Bavasi"....So signing Guillen and trading for Vidro last year weren't good moves??...And I'm guessing you'd rather have last year's starting rotation instead of this year's???....And since Bavasi is such a bad GM the Mariners have gotten worse every year under his tenure right???...OH WAIT....What's that?...They've gotten better every year he's been there???....Hmmm....Isn't Ichiro a free agent after this year???...Oh wait....STFU....
chill bri-man.. i'm with you though. bavasi has been bringing this team back to life, slowly but surely, but there are certainly some bad moves in his tenure. The HoRam deal, the Randy Winn trade, the Carlos Guillen trade (i think), signing Speizio and Aurillia.. but the team is getting better and that's all you can ask for.
Sorry....I'm just tired of the non-stop criticism that Bavasi gets...EVERY GM MAKES SOME BAD MOVES...When the Mariners record stops getting better every year under his tenure he'll be gone (and my guess is that we'll have a slightly better record this year than last)...It seems to me people are quick to criticize a guy who is doing a decent job...With the moves Bavasi made this off season I find it hard to believe people are still criticizing...
